695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
Senior guard Tiersa Winder has provided veteran leadership all season for McDonogh. After a loss to St.John's early in the season they reeled off 24 straight wins, culminating with a furious rally in the IAAM championship game against Spalding. Trailing 26 to 4 at one point, McDonogh staged a huge rally and pulled off a 46-44 stunner. Winder came off a screen, caught the pass and shot a turnaround jumper that would have made Reggie Miller proud. The 3 pointer put McDonogh ahead for good. With a talented but young roster it was up to Ms. Winder to stabilize the teams during rough times. Averaging just under 15 points a game and shooting over 54% from the field she did just that. We caught up with her for a quick one on one session.
